His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass (AKA "Northern Lights)

This is the first of three in the collection "His Dark Materials" which is a wonderful story that has also been made into a movie. There have been lots of discussions and debates over the content in this series that it's always great to get the different perspectives!
To give ample time to read this book 3 chapters at a time, we're just going to start today Monday June 13, 2011 and read till Sunday June 19, 2011 when I will post my thoughts and then have open discussions!
Week 1 - Chapters 1-3
Week 2 - Chapters 4-7
Week 3 - Chapters 8-10
Week 4 - Chapters 11-13
Week 5 - Chapters 14-17
Week 6 - Chapters 18-20
Week 7 - Chapters 21-23
Next book shall be decided via poll posted on the last week of July!

Read Along where we read chapters every week and then discuss the plot, character development, and our thoughts!
Currently I haven't chosen a book to read for a read along. Take a look at the poll question on the left column of this page and see if there are any books you'd like to read and discuss. You can choose more than one and on May 31, 2011 the book with the most votes will be the one we will read for the month of June!
If you have a book that you want to read and I don't have listed on my book list or on the poll options make a suggestion in a comment below. Maybe we will read your book!
I am a big supporter of local libraries and most of my books I read are from my local branch. So if you don't want to spend the money buying a book we're reading go make friends at your local library and have at!
